BRF’s poultry plant in Marau, Brazil, has grained clearance to export chicken products processed there to China.

The company, in a notice to the market on its investor relations webpage, said the facility gained that clearance from the General Administrations of Customs China (GACC).

Marau is in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.

In the notice, which was dated March 24 and signed by BRF Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer Fábio Luis Mendes Mariano, the company revealed that BRF had already gained some authorization to ship chicken meat to China in November 2022, when chicken meat produced by by Companhia Minuano de Alimentos, an exclusive supplier of products to BRF, gained clearance. That facility is in Lajeado, also in Rio Grande do Sul.

“The new qualification brings flexibility and more agility to capture the best market opportunities,” the company stated in its notice.

BRF, formerly Brasil Foods, is the third largest poultry producers in the world, trailing only JBS and Tyson Foods. During the past year, the company slaughtered 1.732 billion broilers, according to the WATTPoultry.com Top Poultry Companies survey.

BRF was created by the association between Sadia and Perdigão.
