Brakebush Brothers is in the process of hiring people to work at its new poultry further-processing plant in Mocksville, North Carolina.

The company acquired the property, which was badly damaged in a December 2017 fire, a little more than a year ago from House of Raeford Farms.

On its Facebook page, Brakebush stated, “We’re excited to get our plant up and running and to be part of the Mocksville, N.C., community.” The company also invited people interested in seeking employment at the plant to fill out an application on its website.

In order to reopen the burned plant, a lot of restoration was necessary. The company also expanded the facility during the reconstruction process. According to the Davie County Blog, the plant has new, state-of-the-art production equipment, and the plant has been expanded from 72,000 square feet to 110,000 square feet.

The facility will have three production lines, and three shifts of workers will staff the plant.

Brakebush Brothers is now hiring for the first shift, with a start date anticipated for August 12. The company further expects recruitment for the second shift to begin in November, and those people are expected to begin working in January 2020.

The acquisition of the House of Raeford Farms is one of several moves in recent years Brakebush Brothers has made to ensure growth of the company.

In November 2017, it announced that it was expanding its operations in Westfield, Wisconsin. That expansion represented an investment of $86 million and the addition of 200 jobs to the local workforce.

Two months prior to that, Brakebush Brothers revealed that it was building a 315,000 square foot poultry further processing plant in Greenville, Texas, with intentions of creating more than 800 jobs.

Brakebush Brothers also acquired Wells Food Processing in Wells, Minnesota in 2016.

The Mocksville facility was one of two fires at House of Raeford plants in 2017. Another poultry plant in Teachey, North Carolina, was badly burned in February 2017 and had to be rebuilt. It was reported to be running at partial capacity in April.
