Monty Henderson appointed to Ark. Livestock and Poultry Commission

Monty Henderson, immediate past chairman of U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, has been appointed to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission by Gov. Mike Beebe. The commission’s purpose is to safeguard human and animal health, assure food safety and quality, and promote the Arkansas livestock and poultry industries.

“I’m honored to be appointed to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission—it does important work for our state’s poultry and livestock industries,” Henderson said. “I have been involved in the poultry industry most of my life, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve as a member of the commission.”

Henderson served as chairman of USPOULTRY in 2009 after several years on the organization’s board of directors. He is the current chairman of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Harold E. Ford Foundation, which provides funds for industry research and student outreach programs.

Henderson began his poultry career as a broiler service manager with Tyson Foods. He later was a broiler grow-out manager with Campbell Soup Company. At Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, he started out as a live production manager and later served as president and chief operating officer. In 1994, Henderson joined George’s Inc. of Springdale, Ark., where he was president and COO until his retirement last year. Henderson remains with George’s as an advisor.
