Aviagen has announced that it has appointed Dr. Eric Jensen as Vice President of Veterinary Services for Aviagen North America.

Aviagen, the world’s leading poultry-breeding company, has announced its appointment of Dr. Eric Jensen as Vice President of Veterinary Services for Aviagen North America. Reporting directly to President of Aviagen North America Kevin McDaniel, Jensen will be responsible for the Veterinary Services professional staff of veterinarians and microbiologists, and two diagnostic laboratories; and will be based at the corporate headquarters in Huntsville.

Jensen will oversee the health and quality of all breeding stock generations by complying with company and industry regulatory standards, as well as providing dedicated support to the health monitoring, biosecurity, vaccination, animal welfare, export certification, education and training programs.

Joining Aviagen in December 1995, Jensen has more than 30 years of experience as a veterinarian specializing in poultry medicine. As Aviagen’s Program Veterinarian, he managed health monitoring, preventive medicine, treatment, biosecurity and animal welfare programs for Grandparent (GP) and Great-grandparent (GGP) breeding operations.

Before Aviagen, Jensen served as Technical Service Veterinarian and Business Unit Manager for Sanofi Animal Heath. He holds a Master of Avian Medicine and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, both from the University of Georgia.

“The poultry industry represents a complex animal production system. Therefore, placing a highly skilled leader at the helm of our veterinary services in North America is critical to our continued success as a leading industry contributor,” explains McDaniel. “Eric’s extensive accomplishments and education in poultry and veterinary health care uniquely qualify him for this key position. Furthermore, Eric has been a valued member of the Aviagen family for several years and is dedicated to continuous advancement of our health and biosecurity programs. I am pleased to welcome him as our new Vice President of Veterinary Services.”
