Wen’s Food Group in January signed a framework agreement on a new pig farming project with the government of Fuquan, Guizhou Province.

The project that is expected to have an annual output of 400,000 head of pigs will adopt the mode of “company plus family farms.” The project will be supported by an administrative center, a technical service center, a feed processing base and a breeding base. With the help of the family pig farms, Wen’s Food Group hopes to carry out its industrialized operation in Fuquan and rapidly expand its pig farming presence in South Guizhou.

According to the report released by Wen’s, the project is one part of Wen’s investment strategy in Guizhou. The Yunnan-Guizhou Branch of Wen’s is tapping into several counties in Guizhou through its subsidiaries. The production capacity of all the pig farms altogether will reach a total of 3 million head.

According to Li Yilin, general manager of the Yunnan-Guizhou Branch of Wen’s Food Group, the branch company will provide the cooperative farms with breeders, feed, technology and animal health measures and the pigs raised by the farms will be bought back at prices agreed upon in the contracts signed, with the profits of the family farms guaranteed.
