As someone who makes a living writing about the poultry industry, I'm not sure I should admit this, but there's nothing better than a fresh cheeseburger off the grill when it's warm outside.
At the 2024 Annual Meat Conference, I learned about a new offering from BUBBA Burgers that is both chicken and a burger.
The BUBBA Burger chicken burger is made from 100% all natural chicken, with 20 grams of protein and 130 calories per serving. Like other burgers from the brand, it goes from "box to bun in 12 minutes or less," according to the press release.
“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Chicken BUBBA burger,” said Elizabeth Rice, brand manager for BUBBA foods LLC. “We’ve carefully crafted this ground chicken burger with the strategic aim of introducing the high quality and convenience of the BUBBA burger brand to a fresh segment of consumers.”
“The chicken burger introduces our shopper to a new way to enjoy ground chicken,” she added. “Whether it’s a light yet filling option for a Monday night family meal or adding variety to a backyard BBQ, the chicken burger is a healthy, high quality and convenient solution.”
I got to sample the chicken burger during my visit to the Annual Meat Conference's exhibit hall. The chicken burger was grilled in front of me, put on a bun and topped with my favorite burger condiments (ketchup and cheddar cheese, in case you were wondering). It looked easy to make, tased great and is something I'm definitely planning to buy once it launches in retail in May 2024.
For those with families, I see a lot of appeal. It behooves poultry marketers to think about the hamburger market, because people want choices. BUBBA makes a variety of burger styles -- including beef and turkey -- and it's easy to let everyone pick what kind of burger they want tonight.
