HKScan will now be known as HKFoods Oyj following the sale of the company’s Swedish business.

“The name HKFoods will continue the company’s traditions and reflects one of the company's core consumer brands, as well as the company's industry and strategic reference. We continue our strategic journey to become a versatile food company. HKFoods is strongly Finnish at its core, but an internationally operating company," says CEO Juha Ruohola.

The name change was announced April 18 at the Annual General Meeting of HKScan and will not impact any of the company’s consumer brands, HK, Kariniemen and Via in Finland and Rose in Denmark.

The new name, logo, website and e-mail address will be introduced after May 2024 once the new name is registered with the Trade Register.

The parallel names of the company will be HKFoods Plc (in English) and HKFoods Abp (in Swedish), according to the press release.

Swedish assets change name after sale

In January 2024, it was announced that Lantmännen is acquiring all of HKScan’s operations in Sweden, including the brands Scan, Pärsons and Bullens.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Lantmännen announced that the new business assets would be known as Scan Sverige.

"It is gratifying that the transaction has now been completed. Through the acquisition, we further strengthen Lantmännen's position in the food chain, while at the same time securing Swedish ownership of Scan. This is important for Swedish agriculture and Swedish food production – and a key issue for strengthening national food preparedness," says Magnus Kagevik, Lantmännen's group president and CEO.

Scan Sverige has approximately 1,800 employees and production facilities in Kristianstad, Skara, Linköping and Halmstad and its head office in Stockholm. Included in the acquisition were the brands Scan, Pärsons and Bullens.

HKScan in March also announced it is in talks to divest of its operations in Denmark.
