Baiada is building a new poultry processing plant in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia.

The company announced on LinkedIn that construction has begun on the new facility, and the construction is expected by be completed by early 2026.

“This new facility will stand as a beacon of progress and possibility, as well as our commitment to setting new standards in the poultry industry,” Baiada stated. “We have collaborated with industry experts worldwide to create the processing plant, which will embrace some of the most innovative, sustainable and advanced processing technology in the world.”

When completed, the facility will have the capacity to process up to 3 million chickens per week, with an online process from start to finish. It will also feature complete air chilling processing and online bone detections, plus fully automated cold storage and online traceability.

Keeping sustainability in mind, Baiada is installing an “advanced water system initiative to reduce town water usage.” It is estimated that 85% of the plant’s wastewater will be treated to potable standards for reuse within the facility itself.

Once the plant is open and operating at full capacity, it will employ more than 700 people.

Less than one year ago, Baiada announced another expansion project, in which it was constructing two fully-automated breeding farms in the Riverina region of New South Wales.

Baida is the second largest broiler producer of Oceania. During the past year, the company slaughtered 208 million broilers. The company is also involved in turkey production.
