The Dutch poultry industry is looking to Nigeria as a target for trade opportunities, with a trade mission planned for November 2-7.
Holland-Africa Poultry Partners (HAPP), member companies ISA, Koudijs Animal Nutrition (De Heus), Pas Reform and TransNational Agri Projects will travel to the Nigeria Poultry Show. They will be joined by Daphne Willems, project coordinator for the Netherlands-Africa Business Council, as well as potential HAPP members Celtic Cooling, Jansen Poultry Equipment and Marel Stork Poultry Processing.
Nigeria is the first West-African country to be visited by a Dutch poultry delegation and has a huge potential as a trade partner, according to HAPP. Nigeria poultry meat and eggs are unrestricted by any religion or culture and it is also the most consumed animal protein. However, only the elite farmers in Nigeria can actually fill the gap and harness these opportunities, so HAPP is hopeful that the poultry industry from the Netherlands can help meet the demand.
The purpose of the mission is to experience the opportunities of the Nigerian poultry sector. The companies will meet with their Nigerian counterparts at the Nigeria Poultry Show in Abeokuta, where an entire Holland pavilion will be created. Company visits and business-to-business matchmaking sessions will be held.
The trade mission is coordinated in cooperation with the Dutch Poultry Centre (DPC).
