Cherkizovo Group has agreed to establish an industry department at Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology.

The two parties on February 9, while at the International RUSSIA EXPO, signed an agreement to establish a department for Product Quality and Risk Management in the Agricultural Sector. The department will train process engineers, veterinarians, and quality assurance experts in the poultry, pork, and meat processing sectors. Applicants will be recruited starting this spring, while training will begin in September.

The department will provide training to not only the academy’s students, but also Cherkizovo’s employees wishing to upgrade their qualifications. Company experts will also be part of the department’s teaching staff: they will share their expertise and experience in research and development (R&D), testing of feed and animal product quality, genomics, and molecular biology. This team will include researchers from Cherkizovo’s R&D Lab, a European-class laboratory facility that conducts research throughout the agricultural domain: from soil analysis to quality assurance of finished products.

“Cherkizovo Group is honored to take part in the project establishing an industry department at Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology. We genuinely hope that our collaboration will help elevate the standards of training for professionals vital to the industry. I am confident that the new department is just another step in our cooperation with the academy, and we have many projects down the road that will benefit not only our business, but also the entire domestic agriculture,” commented Anastasia Mikhailova, head of communications at Cherkizovo Group.

“I would like to express gratitude to our long-standing partner, Cherkizovo Group, for its responsible approach to furthering Russia’s agricultural education. The agreement on establishing an industry department demonstrates the company’s commitment to training highly skilled professionals in the agricultural sector. They will play a crucial role in improving the quality of animal farming products, and therefore enhance food security for our nation and our people,” said Sergey Pozyabin, rector of Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology.

Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology is the nation’s oldest veterinary university established back in 1919. During its more than a century-long history, it has trained thousands of highly skilled professionals employed both in Russia and overseas. The academy’s team comprises more than 250 researchers and scholars, including professors, members and associate members of the Russian Academy of Science, holders of PhD and post-doctoral degrees. Today, the academy trains more than a thousand students, including non-residents from 38 countries.
