Tim Schellpeper has been chosen to succeed Jason Logsdon as CEO of Maschhoff Family Foods, the holding company of pork producer The Maschhoffs and poultry processor GNP Company.

Logsdon will leave the company to pursue his passion for investing. He joined the company as its chief financial officer in 2013, and became its CEO in 2012. He will continue to serve Maschhoff Family Foods as a board member and will continue to counsel the organization in strategic business areas.

Schellpeper, who most recently served as president and CEO of Kansas City-based fresh meat and packaged foods company Smithfield-Farmland, will become CEO and assume leadership of Maschhoff Family Foods, effective September 8.

"I truly appreciate the opportunity I've had to lead such a tremendous organization," said Logsdon. "I'm very excited to remain involved in the business while pursuing a long-time personal interest of mine. I will greatly miss the day-to-day leadership of the team, and remain very committed to the success of the organization and the Maschhoff family. I have absolute confidence that Tim will do an outstanding job."

Ken Maschhoff, chairman of the board, agrees, saying he couldn't be more pleased with the appointment of Schellpeper as CEO. "I've known Tim for a long time, and believe he is uniquely positioned to lead the organization due to his farming background, more than 30 years of protein industry experience, outstanding character, vast leadership skills, and excellent cultural fit," Maschhoff explained. "Tim is a people person with a strong work ethic and a very active, visible management style. He is known for challenging and developing the people around him."

According to Maschhoff, Schellpeper is highly passionate about the organization's mission as well as those of its separate business units. There are no changes expected in the strategies or plans of the organization or its hog and chicken businesses. The Maschhoffs will continue to dedicate its energies to maintaining and enhancing its position as the largest family-owned hog production network in North America. GNP Company will continue to build on its reputation as the Midwest's leading provider of premium quality chicken products.

"I am looking forward to being part of such a strong, growing organization and guiding its evolution to a leading provider of healthy proteins," says Schellpeper. "I am truly excited about helping Maschhoff Family Foods drive forward its strategy and vision while preserving the farm family values upon which it is built."

Over the next 30-plus days, Logsdon will prepare to transition out of the CEO role, working closely with Maschhoff, Schellpeper and the executive committee to ensure business continuity and the transfer of critical business knowledge.

In other personnel matters, the company officially named Dr. Bradley Wolter as president of The Maschhoffs — a role he has held on an interim basis since April 2015.
