Russia’s Cherkizovo Group is investing billions of rubles to upgrade its poultry farms in the Bashkortostan region.

While speaking at the 34th International Agrocomplex in Ufa, Russia, Maxim Zudin, a member of the Cherkizovo Management Board, spoke of the company’s production and investment plans, focusing much of his talk on upgrades to Cherkizovo’s Bashkortostan facility, and plans to ramp up poultry production in the region.

“Together with the Government of the Republic, we are championing poultry farming and reconstructing poultry farms. Our plans for this and next year include increasing broiler meat production from 65,000 to 95,000–97,000 metric tons of live-weight product. The second stage of the plan envisages ramping up production to 128,000 metric tons. The company has already invested RUB5.3 billion (US$57 million) in its assets in Bashkortostan, with another RUB5 billion earmarked for investments over the next two years,” said Zudin.

In December 2022, Cherkizovo Group acquired a group of assets in Bashkortostan which include five poultry farms with an annual live-weight capacity of 65,000 metric tons of broiler meat, annual processing capacity of 25,000 metric tons, a feed mill with an annual capacity of 240,000 metric tons, and a land bank of 18,000 hectares. The poultry products of the Bashkir facilities are both sold domestically and exported.
