Poultry farmers don’t get a break over the holiday season

Vital Farms’ new advertisement celebrates those who don’t get to pause during the holidays.

During the end of the year, many people have time to take off from work or school and have a holiday break to enjoy quality time with their loved ones. However, farmers don’t get that same luxury, and Vital Farms is working to remind consumers of that through its new pause advertisement.

To help show gratitude to Vital Farms’ farmers, the company is launching pause units across multiple streaming services throughout the holiday season. The pause advertisements appear when consumers press pause on their televisions when watching their favorite holiday movie or sporting event.

“Farming is not just a full-time job, it’s a 24/7, 365 day per year operation. My team is responsible for working with our farmer community every day, so we know how hard they work, and they deserve to be celebrated,” stated Jennifer Gregg, Vital Farms Vice President of Operations.

“People don’t realize just how much goes into producing the food that’s on your holiday tables, and we hope people will take a moment out of this busy time of year to send some kind words to the real family farmers responsible for their family's favorite recipes.”

Even though the 2023 holiday season is almost over, Vital Farms is still giving consumers an opportunity to show their appreciation and write a personalized message to Vital Farms farmers. To do so consumers can scan the QR code in the pause advertisements and submit their own messages or visit vitalfarms.com/send-a-farmer-a-holiday-greeting. Additionally, the link will help consumers understand why farmers work through the holiday season.

Vital Farms also plans to air the messages on radio ads in what Vital calls the Pasture Belt, which is the U.S. region where pasture-raised eggs can be produced year-round, throughout the holiday season to ensure its farmers hear all the gratitude.

Part of the farmers’ job is to work year-round, and I think it is important for consumers to know that. Hopefully this is another small step towards educating consumers on what farmers do and where their food comes from.
