Deviled eggs are a classic and beloved holiday dish that almost everyone loves. American food and entertainment magazine Bon Appétit even declared 2022 the year of the fancy deviled egg.

Celebrities love deviled eggs, too, and many of their recipes are available online. In June 2022, food network Tasty even published a video titled “Which Celebrity Makes the Best Deviled Eggs?” that features recipes from Kourtney Kardashian, Joanna Gains, Ina Garten and Oprah Winfrey.

If you are looking for a new devilled egg recipe to try this holiday season, here are two of my celebrity favorites:

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah’s recipe calls for: 12 large eggs, 3 tablespoons (tbsp) mayonnaise, 2 tbsp mustard, 1 tbsp minced sweet pickle, 1 dash Worcestershire sauce, salt and fresh ground pepper, 1 dash lemon juice, 1 dash horseradish sauce, 1-2 dashes Tabasco sauce, 2 tbsp chopped parsley and 2 tbsp paprika.

After hard boiling the eggs and cooling, cut in half and scoop the yolks into a bowl. Mix in all ingredients, except for the parsley and paprika, mashing the yolks with the back side of a fork. Spoon the mixture back into the egg whites and top with the paprika and parsley. Refrigerate.

Joanna Gaines

Joanna’s recipe calls for: 12 large eggs, ½ pound bacon, ¼ cup light brown sugar, Kosher salt, 1/2 cup mayonnaise (preferably the Hellmann's brand), 2 tbsp dill relish, 1 tbsp minced fresh dill, 1 tbsp minced chives, 1 teaspoon mustard powder and 1 tbsp sweet paprika.

While the eggs are boiling, coat the bacon in brown sugar and bake in the oven at 375˚ until crispy, 14-16 minutes. After cooled, chop into bits.

After hard boiling the eggs and cooling, cut in half and scoop the yolks into a bowl. Add the mayonnaise, relish, dill, chives, mustard powder and ¼ teaspoon salt to the egg yolks. Mix well, mashing the yolks with the back side of a fork. Spoon the mixture back into the egg whites and top with paprika and bacon bits. Refrigerate.

Make them ahead of time

Even though Christmas is a little over two weeks away, it is not too early to stock up on eggs considering they have a shelf life of 4 to 5 weeks beyond the pack date or about 3 weeks after purchase, according to the American Egg Board. Additionally, you can make deviled eggs the day before consumption and store them in the refrigerator to ease the stress of holiday cooking.
