Avian influenza found at farm in Netherlands

H5N3 avian influenza has infected a farm in the Netherlands,the World Organisation for Animal Health reported on December 2. There were 25cases of avian influenza at the farm, though none of them were fatal.

A total of 9,301 birds were susceptible to H5N3 avian influenza in the Netherlands, and all of the susceptible birds were destroyed.

A 1-kilometer protection zone surrounding the farm infected with avian influenza was established. However, the farm is in a relatively isolated area, and there are no other premises within that protection zone. The Netherlands farm affected by avian influenza is located in Groningen.
