Speaker Info:
Lexie Berglund joined Pedigree Ovens and The Pound Bakery in 2007, working in several departments: production, baking, warehousing, sales, and customer service. Over the course of her career, she served as president of The Pound Bakery and helped to manage the day-to-day operations at the rapidly growing Harvard Production facility. In 2021, Pedigree Ovens and The Pound Bakery entered into a joint venture with ADM, and Berglund was appointed as the commercial manager of the Thermal Extrusion and Baked portion of the business, working closely with ADM management to help oversee the production site in Harvard.
Jennifer Adolphe is responsible for providing technical support, nutrition training, formulation services, and new product development for ADM’s customers in the pet food industry. She graduated with her Ph.D. in companion animal nutrition from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She has a Master of Science degree in human nutrition and previously worked as a registered dietitian. Adolphe has more than 15 years of experience in both human and companion animal nutrition and previously held positions at OmniPet Nutrition and Petcurean Pet Nutrition. She is the recipient of many awards and scholarships for her academic work and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.
Sean Madison is the director of North American business development at Innovafeed, a global leader in insect-based ingredients for animal and plant nutrition. His experience includes a decade at various stages of the food industry, in both retail and consumer product goods. Madison received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Dr. Godoy is an Associate Professor and was selected to be a recipient of the 2021 Campus Distinguished Promotion Award at the University of Illinois. The focus of her research program is on companion animal and comparative nutrition with 3 main overarching goals: 1. analytical methods and animal models for evaluation of nutritional adequacy of novel ingredients; 2. the effects of processing on pet food quality, nutritional value, and safety; and 3. the role of nutraceuticals in health and wellness of pets. Dr. Godoy has an internationally recognized program highlighted by over $ 7 million in extramural funding, internal grants, and donations to support research, over 45 invited lectures nationally and internationally, and more than 80 peer-reviewed publications. She has an outstanding teaching record and has been consistently named to the Univ. of IL “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students”. In 2020 and 2021, she was the recipient of the Corbin Award in Companion Animal Biology and Early Career Achievement National Awards from the American Society of Animal Science. In 2021, she was also awarded the Paul A. Funk Award, College of ACES, Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Godoy’s academic program showcases her innovative approach to science that further advances the pet food industry and the nutritional sciences community.
