Processed chicken from China needs tougher standards, senator says

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer wants the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to enact tougher rules on processed chickens that come from China for sale in the United States. After the agency early in September approved the sale of chickens raised in the U.S. but processed in China to be sold back in China, Schumer is pressing for stricter standards to assure the chickens were in fact raised in the United States and that the meat is safe for consumption.
