Representatives from four Middle Eastern supermarkets are in Brazil this week attending the Sao Paulo supermarket association trade fair APAS 2015, reports the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Poultry meat would appear to be at the top of their shopping lists.

Saudi Hypermarkets Company, which primarily buys poultry products from Brazil, says that it is looking to expand its trade links in the country, while Al Maya Distribution, which already sells Brazilian poultry meat in its home market of Saudi Arabia, is looking to start selling Brazilian poultry meat and pork in the other five markets where it operates.

Ibrahim Issa, supermarket manager at Kuwait’s Sultan Center, explained that his business had been trading with Brazil for two years and that he was attending the event to explore additional opportunities.

“I’m here to expand our business and to look for new possibilities, especially for beef and poultry,” he said.
