In Africa, due to a fast-growing middle class, rapid urbanization is driving change.

Consumption patterns are changing from a vegetable-based to a protein-rich diet. This large-scale shift requires developments in professional farming and availability of up-to-date technologies and innovations.

With a new series of events, VNU Exhibitions offers a boutique-style event: Poultry Africa. This is sub-Saharan Africa’s first quality expo in combination with a leadership conference and technical best practices.

Practical insights into poultry nutrition

In addition to the main event, Poultry Africa will also feature, “Practical insights into poultry nutrition,” presented by WATT Global Media and chaired by Mark Clements, editor of Poultry International.

Douglas Malala, business manager animal nutrition for Evonik East Africa Ltd., will present, “Using amino acids to reduce cost and improve diets,” which will explain how, with the correct and targeted use of amino acids, crude protein requirements can be reduced – maximizing growth performance and profitability, while lowering environmental impact.

Efficient poultry production is a balancing act of nutrition, gut health and animal welfare, especially when reducing or eliminating antibiotic utilization. During, “A new approach to better gut health,” John Owaga, technical services manager animal nutrition for Evonik East Africa Ltd., will explain how nutrition and health are closely linked in ensuring the well-being and performance of poultry.
