Cherkizovo chicken, turkey, pork sales volumes increase

Cherkizovo Group reported a year-over-year increase in sales volume for chicken, turkey and pork during the month of November.

Cherkizovo Group reported a year-over-year increase in sales volume for chicken, turkey and pork during the month of November.

The Russian diversified meat, poultry and grain company on December 10, released its operating results for November.

Chicken

Cherkizovo’s November chicken sales volume reached 58.02 thousand metric tons, a 22% increase when compared to November 2018. The November sales volume was also up 1% from the sales volume of October.

The average price for chicken was down 4% in November when compared to one year ago.

Turkey

Cherkizovo reported its turkey sales volume from November was 3.63 thousand metric tons, a year-over-year improvement of 15%. Sales volumes were also up 3% when compared to the previous month.

The average price for turkey was down 3% in November when compared to one year ago.

Pork

Pork sales volume for November reached 26.77 thousand metric tons, which was a 17% year-over-year improvement. However, its sales volume for October was 5% higher at 28.01%.

At 27.63 thousand metric tons, Cherkizovo also produced 17% more pork in November 2019 than it did in November 2018.

The average price in November for pork was down 24% on a year-over-year basis.

Cherkizovo encompasses seven chicken manufacturing complexes (as well as the Belaya Ptitsa production complex which is currently operated pursuant to a lease agreement), sixteen pork farms, five meat processing plants (and an additional meat processing plant operated by an equity associate Samson – Food Products) and two slaughter facilities, nine animal feed plants, twelve grain elevators, a land bank, and a full-cycle turkey production plant in Tambov, owned and operated as a joint venture with Grupo Fuertes, a leading Spanish agriculture and food company.

According to the Poultry International Top Companies listings, Cherkizovo is the largest poultry company in Russia and is tied with Ukraine’s MHP as the sixth largest poultry company in Europe, with both companies slaughtering 312 million broilers annually.
