Judith LaBounty, DVM, has joined Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults (VOMCP) as a poultry veterinarian. In this role Dr. LaBounty will be based in Osceola, Iowa, and will implement and oversee company poultry health programs. She will also work with the VOMCP technical team providing veterinary support customers.
Dr. LaBounty is a recent graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She also completed post-baccalaureate studies in Animal Science from the University of Missouri. Due to her interest in pursuing a career in the poultry industry, Dr. LaBounty participated in several internships with poultry companies including Butterball, Perdue and Aviagen, and worked with the University of Georgia Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center.
According to Clint Grimsley, president, VOMCP, “Dr. LaBounty has demonstrated tremendous initiative in arranging internships to learn about our industry while earning her DVM. We will continue that training with a comprehensive induction program both internally at our production facilities and externally at customer operations. Dr. LaBounty will be a strong asset to our operations in Iowa, Missouri and North Carolina and I’m excited to have her join our team.”
Based in Osceola, Iowa, Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults supplies highly selected, quality commercial poults and eggs to the turkey industry. A new single-stage hatchery with capacity to set up to 50 million eggs was completed in November 2011. Eggs are primarily supplied from production operations in Missouri and North Carolina.
