In light of the 30th anniversary of Cobb Sweden as a distributor of the breed, senior executives of the company were given a tour of Cobb-Vantress and parent company Tyson Foods facilities in and around Siloam Springs, Ark.

The visitors, headed by Torbjorn Persson chief executive of Cobb Sweden, and Jan Pettersson, chief executive of the Blenta Group, spent three days touring Cobb headquarters, farm and feed mill locations, Tyson Foods farms, hatchery, processing facilities and Tyson Foods Discovery research center. They also met with representatives from Walmart and a regional grocery store chain to discuss innovation and product development.

“The Swedish industry is looking at moving to a bigger bird (4.29-4.62 lbs.) and opportunities for developing the market through further processing,” Pettersson said.

“We really appreciated the opportunity to get together with many interesting and inspiring people from the chicken industry in Arkansas,” Persson said. “It is important to us to see how the U.S. market differs from that in Europe. The visit has shown us new processing opportunities.

“I’m sure, in return, the meetings also enabled our hosts to learn about the market situation in our region and our focus on antibiotic-free production and European standards over many years,” Persson added.
