Canadian Food Inspection Agency president takes new job

Paul Glover, who has served as the president of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, will be leaving his current position to assume a new role within the Canadian government.

Paul Glover, the president of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, will be leaving his current position to assume a new role within the Canadian government.

Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada, announced in a press release a number of reassignments within the federal government, which includes the reassignment of Glover.

Glover, who had been CFIA president since October 31, 2016, will become the president of Shared Services Canada (SSC), effective January 7, 2019.

Glover has been an employee of the Canadian government for more than two decades. Most of his public service has been in the Health Canada agency. Prior to being named the president of the CFIA, he served for about three years as the associate deputy minister of health.

SSC, according to its website, delivers digital services to Government of Canada organizations. it provides modern, secure and reliable IT services so federal organizations can deliver digital programs and services that meet Canadians needs.

It has not yet been revealed who will succeed Glover as the CFIA president.

Ron Parker, outgoing president of SSC, has become a senior adviser to the Privy Council Office, effective December 17. Parker will join the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto as a visiting senior public policy fellow until his retirement from public service in February 2019.
