Perdue Foods names first SVP of e-commerce, new ventures

Perdue Foods appointed David Zucker as senior vice president of e-commerce and new ventures, which is a new position for the company.

Perdue Foods appointed David Zucker as senior vice president of e-commerce and new ventures, which is a new position for the company. In the role, Zucker will oversee all aspects of Perdue’s e-commerce strategy.

“E-commerce is an increasingly important part of the Perdue Foods growth plan, and we’re pleased that David Zucker is onboard to lead our efforts,” said Mark McKay, president of Perdue Premium Poultry. “We have to meet consumers where they are today, which is more and more online, and expanding our presence is vital to drive new growth for our business and brands.”

Zucker has more than 25 years of e-commerce, marketing, merchandising, product development, analytics and call center management experience. He was most recently general manager and chief marketing officer (CMO) of Omaha Steaks International, a multi-channel retailer of premium single and multi-ingredient food. Prior to joining Omaha Steaks, Zucker was CMO for both Vitacost.com, a public online retailer of vitamin, nutritional supplements and shelf stable foods, and Gilt Groupe, an online flash sale retailer of high-end fashion for women, men, children and home products. He has also held progressively more senior roles at Dell Inc., the Home Shopping Network (HSN), Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Priceline.com.
 
Zucker holds a doctorate in environmental economics from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in applied economics from West Virginia University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida and Rutgers University, where he taught statistics, introduction and advanced economics, pricing theory and environmental economics.
 
Zucker will be based at the company’s headquarters in Salisbury, Maryland.

Perdue Foods, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, is the United States’ fourth largest broiler company and seventh largest turkey company.

Perdue was also recently honored by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for Diversity” for 2019.
