The World Bank Avian Influenza Control Project in northern Nigeria's Yobe State said it had registered more than 234 poultry farmers as a surveillance team against the outbreak of avian influenza, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
"It is our deliberate strategy to keep records and sustain the fight against the spread of the disease in the state," said Iliyasu Mainasaid, the desk officer of the project.
He said 34 of the poultry farms in the state had been identified as potential risk areas with their variety of birds and urged others to cooperate with the project in order to fight future outbreaks.
