From WATTAgNet:

Wayne Farms’ plant in Enterprise, Alabama, was evacuated on August 4 after a fire broke out in the facility’s electrical room.

The evacuation took place around 6:20 a.m. when it was discovered that smoke was coming from the room. Company spokesman Frank Singleton said the fire took place during a shift change, and about 400 people were involved in the evacuation.

Crews from three fire departments responded, and the fire was put out by 11 a.m. No major damages were reported.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which is being investigated by the local and state agencies. Singleton said it appeared that a circuit in the electrical room caught fire. Repairs are being made, and operations are expected to return to normal for the second shift of August 8.

Wayne Farms, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, is the sixth largest broiler company in the United States. It produced 47.22 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken on a weekly basis in 2016. The company is headquartered in Oakwood, Georgia.
