Wayne Farms LLC, one of the largest poultry producers in the country, has just awarded the AGRO Merchants Charlotte facility its first Warehouse of the Year award. The Doraville, GA based company’s “above and beyond” service and efficiency handling warehouse operations and inventory management for Wayne Farms gave AGRO Merchants an edge over 14 other contenders.
Warehousing and inventory management is particularly critical to an industry giant like Wayne Farms, which produces, handles and ships millions of pounds of poultry products each year to some of the largest restaurant and retail brands in the country. AGRO Merchants Charlotte oversees the product flow from receiving and warehousing, through the logistical hand-off to CH Robinson, Wayne Farms’ transportation partner.
AGRO Merchants Charlotte operated under the Nordic Logistics and Warehousing label until it was recently rebranded following Nordic’s purchase by AGRO Merchants in 2015. AGRO Merchants Charlotte’s ability to store, manage and track Wayne Farms products, and its flexibility in scaling up for contingencies and offering innovative solutions made the decision an easy one, according to Ken Esser, Director of Inventory and Logistics for Wayne Farms.
He described the significant role AGRO Merchants Charlotte plays in support of Wayne Farms. “They’re a regular part of our daily operation—and they provide stellar service across the board. Inventory accuracy, minimizing claims, being flexible—they’re always willing to step up and go above our expectation to manage our products.”
