The top 10 poultry companies in Europe

Italy, the United Kingdom and Russia are each home of two of Europe’s top 10 poultry companies, while the largest company is from France.

Italy, the United Kingdom and Russia are each home of two of Europe’s top 10 poultry companies, while the largest company is from France.

The Netherlands, Germany and Ukraine are also represented among the ten largest poultry producers, according to the Poultry International Top Poultry Companies rankings.

The top 10 poultry producers of Europe are:

LDC

Headquartered in France, LDC 75 has production sites in France, Spain and Poland. It slaughtered 458.8 million broiler chickens in 2017. The company’s principal brands include Maitre Coq, Volailles Le Fleuron, Bio Bresse, Volailles Fermieres de Loue and Chip Long. 

Plukon Food Group

Netherlands-based Plukon Food Group slaughtered 426.4 million broilers in 2017. It supplies pre-cooked poultry products to large Dutch, German and Belgian retailers. 

Gruppo Veronesi

Italy’s Gruppo Veronesi slaughtered 350 million broilers in 2017. It is the parent company of Agricola Italiana Alimentare. Exports account for about 15 percent of the company’s sales.

PHW Group

PHW Group of Germany, like Gruppo Veronesi, slaughtered 350 million broilers in 2017. It is the owner of the brand Wiesenhof, which produces chicken, turkey and duck.

2 Sisters Food Group

2 Sisters Food Group, one of Britain's largest food producers and one of the 10 largest privately held companies in the U.K., supplies about one-third of all poultry products consumed in the U.K. It slaughtered 317 million broilers last year.

Cherkizovo Group

Russia’s Cherkizovo Group slaughtered 312 million broilers in 2017. It has signed a letter of intent to acquire Altaisky Broiler from fellow Russian company Prioskolie, which is the ninth largest poultry company in Europe.

MHP

A leading meat producer in Ukraine, MHP’s poultry division holds more than 50 percent market share. Poultry accounts for a 80 percent of revenues for MHP. It slaughtered 312 million broilers in 2017, the same amount slaughtered by Cherkizovo.

Moy Park

A subsidiary of Pilgrim’s Pride, Moy Park, headquartered in the U.K., slaughtered 280 million broilers last year.

Prioskolye

Having slaughtered 276 million broilers in 2017, Prioskolye is Russia’s second-largest poultry company.

Amadori

Italy’s second-largest poultry company, Amadori, slaughtered 250 million broilers last year.
