Moba is offering a new technology for the service processes to provide customers with solutions. This has become increasingly important during the global pandemic. To promptly provide the assistance and specific knowledge and skills required on site the company has introduced Moba Smart Glasses.

Before the pandemic, the company started a pilot using smart glasses in cooperation with the Gemvision platform. With this technology, producers can remotely contact the company’s experts for live assistance.

The smart glasses allow individuals to speak with a company expert as if the expert was onsite. The expert sees what the producer sees, taking away the need for onsite travel.

"It is a wearable device so an advantage over a cell phone is that it's a hands-free solution," said Craig England, president of Moba USA.

The glasses are adjustable to fit anyone. "There are different ways in how the smart glasses can be worn, like glasses; there are 3 sizes (small/medium/large) or in combination with a headband; can be adjusted to fit," said England.

Uses for the smart glasses

With this system, the Moba team can guide and assist any remote person wearing the technology:

  • Things can be pointed out in the view field of the remote person
  • Drawings, photos, instruction videos and other relevant information can be shown to the remote person while seeing the equipment on location at the same time
  • Findings can be recorded as instructions for others or further handling by the HelpDesk teams and/or headquarters team
  • Sessions can be stored to reconvene at any later moment
  • Next to the visual aspect an audio connection is present

"Little did we know that a pandemic would soon hit the world and we had to follow travel restrictions and other measures. This changed the way our field service team provides support and installations of new and existing equipment. Although the delivery of equipment continued, sending a team to install or maintain the machinery was sometimes a challenge," England explained. Smart glasses offer the business a solution for this.

Currently, this technology is being offered exclusively to customers using the Moba family products: Moba, Pelbo and Diamond equipment, explained England.

To use the smart glasses, you need a stable Wi-Fi/Internet connection. Also, the company delivers a 4G hotspot with the ready-to-go technology.

"When COVID restrictions will be lifted, nobody knows. So, we are glad that we can offer our customers this service," England concluded.
