In last month’s Livestock, Dairy and Poultry report, USDA forecasts an average 2008 New York price of $1.20 to $1.25 per dozen, down from the $1.25 to $1.32 it estimated in the April report.
In its May report, USDA now forecasts second-quarter prices of $1.13 to $1.17, third- quarter prices of $1.02 to $1.08, and fourth-quarter prices of $1.06 to $1.14. First-quarter prices were $1.58.8. The department forecasts first quarter 2009 prices of 95 cents to $1.03 and prices to average 90 to 98 cents per dozen for all of next year.USDA decreases egg price estimate slightly for 2008
