In her new role, Emily Metz, president and CEO of the American Egg Board (AEB) will be leading the AEB staff and will collaborate with the American egg industry to build demand for U.S. eggs and egg products both domestically and abroad.

Metz addresses her short-term and long-term goals for the AEB, including her strategic 5-year plan. She also talks about where she believes the greatest opportunities are for AEB to drive demand for U.S. eggs and egg products.

“We are in a unique position compared to other commodities. We are in 94% of households. Do you continue to chase that 100% or do we really look at some new opportunities…,” Metz said.

She explained that even before the COVID-19 outbreak, the egg industry was experiencing a 2% year-over-year increase in annual consumption for eggs. “That is a 50-year high,” she said.
