Shoppers look for egg and other food bargains

Cheap is the new chic as the economic downturn has consumers embracing old-fashioned idea of saving money, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“In these bleak economic times, more shoppers can appreciate generic eggs for $1.29 a dozen and may pass on the $3.99 cage-free eggs,” the paper says.
