This product joins other antigen capture test kits which can be used to establish a provisional diagnosis of avian influenza by identifying genetic material from influenza-A virus which may be present in a flock. A result can be obtained within fifteen minutes of adding the sample to the kit. The test cannot distinguish between strains of avian influenza virus but is suitable as a quick preliminary screening procedure on which to base immediate control measures which can be modified after confirmation or rejection of the initial diagnosis.
