Danish exports to the United Kingdom, still its biggest customer, are said to be still stable, in spite of the current downturn in several other international pigmeat markets.
Danish Meat Association market analyst, Karsten Flemin, stated that “the UK market has changed slightly and we are now sending less bacon and more hams and cuts for processing.”
He warned, however, that reductions were expected in the Russian market soon as it encouraged its own farmers to increase production and imposed limits on imports. Brazil also appeared to be facing production problems at the moment, though in the long term it would always be the world’s biggest producer, according to Flemin.
