Kreamer Feed, Inc., a leading agribusiness specializing in both organic and conventional animal feed manufacturing, achieved Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration defines HACCP as a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product. The enhancements to the Food Safety Modernization Act require that animal feed and human food share similar safety measures to protect the food supply.
HACCP audits are conducted by approved 3rd party auditors. Kreamer Feed chose to work with Validus to coordinate the 3rd party onsite inspection. The two day audit consisted of a thorough review of all programs, trainings, manuals, policies, procedures and even a facility inspection.
The company is very excited to achieve a rating of 99.9% on its initial attempt at earning this accreditation. All of Kreamer's certifications are important, but reassurance that the company's processes and procedures help ensure a safe food supply is exceptionally important. “My grandfather started Kreamer Feed to make a positive impact in the community. I cannot think of anything more impactful than keeping our food supply safe,” says President Jason Robinson.
