Iowa Workforce Development supporting closing Tyson plant employees

Mobile Center will be onsite from March 25-26.

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) announces the deployment of the IowaWORKS Mobile Workforce Center to Perry, marking the initial phase of support for workers affected by the forthcoming closure of the Tyson Foods plant.

The Mobile Workforce Center will be stationed at Tyson Foods in Perry on Monday and Tuesday of next week (March 25-26), from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Career planners will be available to assist workers with initial inquiries and guide them through the layoff process into reemployment.

Since the layoff announcement, the IowaWORKS Rapid Response Team has collaborated with Tyson Foods and local leaders, gathering critical information and establishing infrastructure to facilitate services in the coming weeks.

Services will be provided in multiple languages to meet the needs of the affected Perry workforce. Planned activities include the launch of a temporary IowaWORKS location at Tyson Foods, worker information meetings, and job fair events with interested employers.

Beth Townsend, executive director of Iowa Workforce Development, emphasized the commitment to supporting impacted workers and helping them transition to new careers within the state.
