It was founded as a family farming operation in 1925 and incorporated as the poultry company House of Raeford in 1975. It exited the turkey business in 2013. It employs 4,615 people across operations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana and Georgia.
House of Raeford produced 30.12 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken on a weekly basis in 2023, a decrease from 30.2 million pounds produced in 2022.
