Perdue Foods is a family-owned, vertically integrated poultry company based in Salisbury, Maryland. It was founded in 1920 as a family business and expanded into one of the country’s top chicken and turkey operations. Perdue Foods is an operating division of Perdue Farms, along with Perdue AgriBusiness. Perdue produces chicken for retailers and foodservice customers around the world. It is a leader in all-vegetarian-fed and no antibiotics ever chicken, turkey, pork and USDA-certified organic chickens.
The company’s brands are Perdue, Perdue Harvestland, Perdue Shortcuts, Coleman Natural, Coleman Organic, Draper Valley Farms, Rocky, Rosie, Ranger, Roxy the Organic Chicken, Perdue Simply Smart Organics, Perdue Chicken Plus, Petaluma Poultry, Maxi and Pasturebird. It employs more than 19,000 and contracts with more than 1,400 independent farm families.
Perdue Foods produced 63.28 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken in 2023. Its 2023 chicken sales were $4.83 billion, an increase from $4.79 billion in 2022. Its overall poultry sales were $5.287 billion in 2023, an increase from $4.24 billion in 2020.
Perdue’s product mix is 76% fresh and 24% frozen. Its sales channels are 64% retail, 17% wholesale, 16% foodservice and 3% export.
In July 2023, Kevin McAdams succeeded Randy Day as CEO of Perdue Foods. McAdams previously held leadership roles at JackLinks, Schwan's Consumer Brands and Pabst Brewing Company. Day will stay on as an adviser for Perdue throughout 2024. That same month, Perdue Foods hired Gregg Uecker into the newly created position of chief supply chain and operations officer. Previously, Uecker held positions at CJ Schwans and Tyson Foods. Also in July 2023, the company promoted Julie Katigan to executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
