Merck Animal Health appoints new president

Merck appointed Richard R. DeLuca Jr. as executive vice president and president, Merck Animal Health, effective September 15. DeLuca succeeds Raul Kohan, who will retire at the end of the year.

Merck appointed Richard R. DeLuca Jr. as executive vice president and president, Merck Animal Health, effective September 15.

DeLuca succeeds Raul Kohan, who will retire at the end of the year. DeLuca, 48, will report to Kenneth C. Frazier, Merck’s president and CEO, and will serve on the company’s Executive Committee. 

Previously, DeLuca served as president of Wyeth's Fort Dodge Animal Health division since 2007, before becoming chief financial officer of BD Biosciences in 2010. DeLuca received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Widener University in Chester, Penn.
