Arizona egg farm to double in size

When construction is completed for eight new laying houses and a processing plant, Hickman’s Family Farms, Arizona’s only commercial egg producer, will double in size.

“We’re a year and a half behind to keep up with the sales we already have,” Clint Hickman, vice president of sales, says in the Arizona Republic . “I bring eggs in from the Midwest right now (to meet demand). We need the hens under our own roof so we’re not depending on other farms,” Hickman, a third generation egg producer, says in the article. By the time the expansion is complete, Hickman’s, based in Buckeye, will have 3 million layers.
