Australia's National Farm Biosecurity Manual for Poultry Production, developed by the poultry industry and the Commonwealth states, was launched at a Government-Industry Avian Influenza Forum, according to a press release by issued by Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
The manual outlines minimum standards applicable for poultry industry sectors, and includes information on routine procedures, outbreak procedures as well as resources and links.
Australia's chief veterinary officer Dr. Andy Carroll said the literature would help poultry farmers prepare to combat the threat of bird flu and other poultry diseases.
