Egg labeling type size requirements announced

US federal and state regulatory labeling requirements now in harmony.

The Agricultural Marketing Service has issued a circular stating grade and egg size declarations must now conform to letters of 1/4-inch in type size. This has been done to harmonize federal and state regulatory labeling requirements in the U.S. The letter was issued under signature of Rex A. Barnes, Deputy Administrator Poultry Programs, AMS.

Questions relating to the directive can be directed to Charles Johnson, chief grading branch or Roger Glasshoff, national supervisor, shell eggs grading branch at +1.202.720.3271.
