The number of human cases of bird flu in Egypt has reached 83, with two new cases being reported by Egypt's health ministry, according to Reuters.

The latest victims are an eight-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy. Both are said to have contracted the infection after coming in contact with dead or sick poultry, the World Health Organization stated.

Egypt now ranks third in H5N1 cases after Indonesia and Vietnam. So far, 27 infections in the country have been fatal.
