Researchers develop new Ammonia-Oxygen Monitoring System

USPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation announce the completion of a funded research project at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, in which researchers developed a new ammonia-oxygen monitoring system for poultry houses.

USPOULTRY and the USPOULTRY Foundation announce the completion of a funded research project at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, in which researchers developed a new ammonia-oxygen monitoring system for poultry houses. The project is part of the Association’s comprehensive research program encompassing all phases of poultry and egg production and processing. A brief summary of the completed project is shown below. Project #F055: Develop and Test Ammonia – Oxygen Monitoring System for Poultry Houses 
(Dr. Sanjay Shah, Dr. Lingjuan Wang-Li, Edgar Oviedo-Rondón, Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department and Prestage Department of Poultry Science, NCSU)

Led by Dr. Shah, researchers recently completed a project, which resulted in a new system for monitoring ammonia and oxygen levels inside poultry houses. The new ammonia-oxygen monitoring system is portable, weighs less than three pounds and will be relatively inexpensive.

The system functions well in the poultry house environment and provides accurate measurements regardless of relative humidity and temperature. This important new tool will help poultry companies and poultry farm managers to continue to improve the environment in poultry houses. For a detailed summary, click here.
