UK meat production forecasted to grow

With the projected population growth, total national meat consumption could be around a million metric tons higher than current annual levels if current levels are maintained.

Meat production in the United Kingdom (UK) is forecasted to be high by 2060, according to the September issue of Meat Demand Trends from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) Meat Services.

The latest European Union statistics bureau Eurostat projections suggest that by 2060, the UK will have the largest population of any of the existing 27 EU member states. If current levels of per capita consumption are maintained, the total meat consumption nationally could be around a million metric tons higher than current annual levels.
