Acting head of OSHA to deliver opener at 2018 poultry industry safety conference

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Acting Head Loren Sweatt will deliver the opening remarks at the 2018 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Acting Head Loren Sweatt will deliver the opening remarks at the 2018 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry. Sweatt is expected to address topics that include OSHA's major initiatives for this year, the agency's specific and ongoing efforts focused on the poultry processing industry and the outlook for current discussions between the poultry industry and OSHA under the agency's Alliance program.

Sweatt has served since July 2017 as the deputy assistant secretary of labor for OSHA. Sweatt is currently acting as head of OSHA, as the Senate has not yet confirmed the President's nominee. Prior to her tenure at OSHA, Sweatt served as senior policy advisor to the House Education and Workforce Committee for 15 years.

The 2018 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry is scheduled for Aug. 13-15, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Fla. The conference is sponsored by the Georgia Tech Research Institute/ATRP, Georgia Poultry Federation, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.
