Zhongpin upgrades Changge pork plant to boost production

Upcoming facility at Tianjin to help company capture the north China market.

Pork producer Zhongpin Inc. has completed a US$6 million upgrade at its slaughtering and processing facility in Changge, in China’s Henan province, according to zibb.com.

The enhancements have increased production capacity by 37%, from 59,760 metric tons to 81,760 metric tons.

The modernization of the Changge plant and a new facility in Tianjin are expected to broaden the company’s customer base in the north China market, including cities like Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan.
