Perdue AgriBusiness has announced that Dr. Mikayla Baxter has joined the company’s Animal Nutrition team as digestive health products manager.

“Dr. Baxter brings a level of knowledge and understanding of digestive health and function to our team that is key to providing the products and services that meet the unique needs of our customers,” said George Betton, Perdue vice president of animal nutrition.

Dr. Baxter holds a bachelor of science degree in animal agriculture from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada and completed a master’s degree concentrating on validating an LED bulb for the egg laying industry. This project focused on how light spectrum affects the reproductive axis of laying hens. Dr. Baxter continued her graduate work at the University of Arkansas, where she completed her Ph.D. in poultry science. Her thesis focused on how three different genetic lines of chickens respond to a malabsorptive diet and the chicken’s ability to recover from this diet.

Dr. Baxter lives in Arkansas and is responsible for multi-species sales for Perdue AgriBusiness’ digestive health products throughout the United States.
