Sales and technical representatives from Hybrid Turkeys gathered with two major players in the UK turkey market: PD Hook and Avara. These two companies represent approximately 90% of the market.
The team organized technical workshops on the theme of raising breeders and commercial turkeys. Topics such as the impact of breeder hens on poult quality, ventilation, hatchery and the first seven days of brooding, were studied with the guidance of our turkey experts, Dennis Bauman and William Alexander. Following these workshops, the team attended the annual Turkey Science and Production conference, held in Chester, UK.
The UK is an 18 million turkey poult market, mainly driven by the import of breeders. Recently the market began trials with Hybrid’s newest product offering; Hybrid Optima. Feedback so far is that customers are very satisfied with the commercial results. Breeders have been placed and will soon be entering into lay. According to one customer “the Optima is a wonderful bird.”
