Scottish pig farm to develop biomass

Further funding needed to move project ahead

The Scottish government is funding a hog farm to convert pig and vegetable waste into power, according to reports.

Ruchlaw Produce, located outside Stenton, has received the equivalent of £500,000 to develop new biomass technology.

The company hopes to power its entire operation with self-produced energy, and then sell any excess power back to the grid. Surplus biomass would be used as fertilizer for the farm.

Additional funding will be needed for the project to be completed.
